Yesterday morning, we took a stroll through Downtown Disney. We started at Disney Village Marketplace by the Rainforest Café, at the far end, noting all the eating places along our way. Breakfast is available at the Wolfgang Puck Express and the Earl of Sandwich. Neither are sit down service; you order food at a counter and take it to a table with your choice of indoor or outdoor seating. The usual seafood place, Cap’n Jack’s, is there, plus Ghiradelli’s Soda Fountain, McDonald’s, and the replica riverboat, Fulton’s Crab House. We noted a Margarita Bar at the edge of Lake Buena Vista with a limit of two drinks per person. Already at nine o’clock, the sun steamed overhead and the air weighed heavily with humidity. We passed the huge store filled with Disney merchandise, the Arrabas Brothers with imported goods, a homemade soap store, Lego toy land, and more. Around the lake, we skipped by Portobello Yacht Club, an Italian restaurant, to gaze longingly at the newest addition, Raglan Road. This Irish pub looks highly appealing, with its own shop and music hall, generous seating both indoors and out. Bordering Pleasure Island, this path leads by Planet Hollywood and up a ramp to the nightclub venues. On the other side, we skid down a hill toward Downtown Disney West, where a few shops reside along with the House of Blues, Bongos Cuban Café, and another Wolfgang Puck. Here also is a movie theater, Disney Quest, an indoor interactive game emporium, and Cirque de Soleil. Panting from the heat, we reverse course and head back to the Marketplace and our cool air-conditioned car. Our condo is ten minutes from here, an easy ride through a back road shortcut. Finally ordered a desk and bookshelf to be delivered on our next visit. Today we’re homebound, and tomorrow starts the normal routine. But hey, you’ll be happy to know I’ve been working on my synopsis and got another page done!
