Last week, I set myself a new page quota per week. I intended to write 7 pages a day or 35 pages a week. I’m sorry to say, I missed the mark by ten pages. I think I’m too accustomed to my five page a day quota, but I have to increase production for a longer book. My goal is to finish the current work in progress. I figured if I have 350 pages left to go, and I write 35 pages per week, I can finish the book in 10 weeks, plus additional time for vacations. The trouble is, those vacations are looming and I have many things to do beforehand. How can I concentrate when I have to gather my handouts and promo materials, remember my camera, throw the Bonine into my suitcase? So I’m reevaluating my target. Maybe it would be bettter to raise my quota by one page a day rather than making such a leap. Or maybe it’s just that I know my train of thought will be interrupted by another long weekend in Orlando followed by a nine day cruise, and the week afterward I’ll need to catch up on mail. Plus I have to fit in appts with the accountant, hairdresser, manicurist, etc. within the next shortened two weeks. So why not start the vacation now, huh? Give me a good reason to focus on work instead of what to pack.
Today’s weather is dreary and cool. I like to cook in cooler climates, so check my website Recipes page for some new additions. It's also a perfect day to curl up with a good book!
